Chimps on Ngamba Island

Tanzania is a country in East Africa and it is bordered to the north by Uganda and Kenya a landlocked country. The country of Uganda is bordered to the north by Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of Congo, to the south by Tanzania and to southwest by Rwanda.

As far as the Nagamba Island is concerned, the Nagamba Island covers an area of 100 acres that lies at a distance of 23 kilometers from Entebbe (a city in Uganda that is situated on the shore of Lake Victoria). The major attraction of this island is the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary or it could be said that the chimps on Ngamba Island has made this sanctuary popular among the tourists as well as among the local residents of Uganda as well as residents of the other countries of Africa.

The Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, was set up in the year 1998 in the month of October and it was established with the intention of taking care of the chimpanzees that were rescued from the traders and the poachers by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and providing special treatment to those who had not the least chance of survival.

The affairs of this sanctuary, which is a non –profit organization is taken care of by the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) and it is the home to about 30 chimpanzees and the open space of this sanctuary allows the chimpanzees to move freely without fear of the outside world. To explore this sanctuary in a better way, the best option that is available to you is to take a guided walk within the chimp enclosure at this sanctuary.

It is open for visitors all through the year and it also has facilities for overnight stay and for this purpose it recommended to get in touch with a booking agent, that is the Wild Frontiers Uganda.
